Emma Juracic, PhD, MSc, HBSc
Medical Associate

Empathetic, Determined
Emma’s role is to assist in the development of high-quality medical content and programs, including research articles, learning materials, and regulatory documents, to effectively communicate complex scientific information to diverse audiences in the healthcare industry.
Emma completed her HBSc, MSc and PhD at the University of Waterloo. Her research focused on calcium regulation in skeletal muscle in relation to muscle health and metabolism. In her MSc, she explored this topic in the context of skeletal muscle disease, specifically Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In her PhD, she shifted gears to investigate the function and interaction of two newly discovered calcium handling proteins and provided novel insights into the intricate regulatory mechanisms governing cellular calcium balance within muscle.
Emma completed a one year post doctorate fellowship at McMaster University, where she investigated the impact of type 1 diabetes (T1D) on human skeletal muscle health (function, metabolism and microvasculature) in order to provide the mechanistic insight necessary for the development of appropriate exercise prescriptions to maximize muscle health and improve the lives of those with T1D.
In her spare time, she is a big fan of live music and an avid concert goer. She prioritizes staying active and being outdoors, and enjoys listening to podcasts and reading a good book!
