Utilizing Expert Opinion to Address the Challenge of Prescribing Medical Cannabis for Chronic Pain

The Challenge

With the legalization of cannabis and patients' growing belief that it can effectively treat chronic pain, physicians faced a challenge. The lack of comprehensive data and randomized clinical trials made it difficult for doctors to make informed decisions regarding the use of medical cannabis. Our client, a leading global cannabis company, approached CTC to help provide guidance to physicians.

The Solution

CTC proposed a modified Delphi process to gather and synthesize the opinions of twenty clinicians across nine countries to come to a consensus on how a clinician can prescribe medical cannabis to a person with pain, focusing on safety and efficacy. CTC also developed educational initiatives based on the publication.
